Allana brings a practical, learner-centred approach to instructional design, rooted in strong client relationships and a commitment to flexibility, inclusivity, and clarity. As an Instructional Design Associate (IDA), she supports projects through template development, research, accessible and plain language writing, editing, and quality control—ensuring all content is engaging, inclusive, and aligned with adult learning principles.
With a career that began in Calgary’s construction industry in 2002, Allana developed a deep understanding of working with skilled trades, interpreting technical materials, and creating practical training content. She facilitated sessions for diverse audiences including employees, tradespeople, and designers—experience that continues to inform her learner-first approach. Since transitioning to a focus on adult learning in 2014, Allana has supported both in-person and online training projects, applying her growing expertise in instructional design, facilitation, content development, and user-testing.
Allana has contributed to projects involving the redesign of instructor-led training for digital platforms and the creation of applied learning elements such as interactive assessments and realistic demonstrations. She is also the team’s DEI and plain language specialist, applying these critical lenses to ensure training materials are clear, accessible, and respectful of all learners.
Her collaborative spirit, editorial precision, and practical experience make her a key asset to any instructional design team.
